Omega Railmaster found at a Goodwill sells for $10,000
An original Omega Railmaster reference CK-2914 sold for $9,818 on eBay today.
There’s nothing particularly remarkable about this headline — a reference 2914 from the original Omega trilogy released in 1957 is a grail-worthy piece— except that this particular example was found at a Goodwill in Maine.
I reached out to the Goodwill to see if there was an interesting story behind the watch. Not really, as it turns out.
“It was a donation, we actually don't know any information at all about the history of the item before it came to Goodwill.” the Goodwill of Maine said. “We listed it with our regular starting price of $9.99 and its value was assessed by the customers through their bidding. Sorry, it's not a very interesting story!”
Not a very interesting story, just a true barn find that made it’s way to eBay and eventual sold for $10,000, pumping some cash into the Goodwill and its worthy social missions. From the few pictures provided in the original listing, the case on this example looks sharp, the dial relatively clean, and all original parts of the watch remain. A nice cleaning and new crystal and this Railmaster should clean up very nicely.
Congrats to the Goodwill and to the new owner of an original Railmaster reference 2914.
