OBJ Wore a Richard Mille in an NFL Game Because Why Not
If you haven’t heard, new Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr wore a Richard Mille RM 11-03 Flyback Chronograph in his first regular season game with the team. Beckham had been seeing wearing the $200,000 watch in practice this summer, but then, we were talking practice. A live action NFL game is another matter entirely.
The RM 11-03 McLaren was released at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It was priced at $191,500 and production was limited to just 500 pieces. Hopefully Beckham bought a couple, as I don’t see this one lasting past a couple games, even with the case made of carbon TPT and orange quartz TPT. The watch case’s orange accents and orange band seem to perfectly match the colors of Beckham’s new team.
It was a big day for Richard Mille, as Rafael Nadal was also sporting his signature timepiece during his U.S Open win, his 19th grand slam title. Unlike Beckham, Nadal is an official Richard Mille ambassador. Richard Mille has gone to extreme efforts to associate itself with athletes and world-class performance. Seeing its watches getting some screen time during two huge national sporting events is a nice payoff for these efforts.
It’s hard to believe Beckham doesn’t also have some sort of relationship with Richard Mille, but maybe he really does just like their watches that much. That’d make one of us.
